Geba Lodge No. 945 was chartered in 1919 in Elmhurst, Queens, during a period when New York was rapidly expanding and immigrant neighborhoods were becoming permanent parts of the city’s civic life. Instituted after first working under dispensation in 1918, the lodge was formally established with the support of the Grand Lodge of New York and the participation of neighboring Masonic bodies. Its first Master, Dr. Samuel A. Lando of Corona, helped guide the new lodge at its founding, setting the tone for a body shaped by fraternity, service, and steady community presence.
