Unlocking Astoria’s Secrets: Open House New York Tours the Advance Masonic Temple

What secrets lie behind the doors of Astoria’s most mysterious landmark? This fall, you can find out.

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Advance Service Mizpah Lodge No. 586 welcomes the community inside the Advance Masonic Temple as part of Open House New York, the citywide festival that celebrates architecture, history, and hidden cultural gems. Together with the Greater Astoria Historical Society, we’re opening the lodge’s doors to share more than 100 years of history, symbolism, and community ties.

A Century in Astoria

Since the temple’s construction in the early 20th century, it has been a gathering place for Freemasons dedicated to fraternity, tradition, and service. From local charity drives to neighborhood partnerships, our work has shaped Queens in subtle yet lasting ways. Visitors will have the chance to see the symbolic lodge rooms, explore distinctive architectural details, and hear stories of how the Masons have been part of Astoria’s civic fabric for generations.

Why Visit During OHNY?

Open House New York is one of the city’s most anticipated events, giving rare access to iconic and often private spaces. For history lovers, architecture fans, and curious neighbors, this is an opportunity to step inside a building that many pass daily but few have ever seen inside.
